Applications are invited for two tenure-track positions in Mathematics.

Position 1: Mathematical Fluid Dynamics - Rank and salary commensurate with experience. We are interested in someone who has expertise in applied mathematics with a specialization in fluid dynamics. Priority will be given to a candidate who would work with faculty in the geosciences, aquatic and coastal science, water management, oceans, climate, physiology, combustion, or computational fluid dynamics.

Position 2: Differential or Partial Differential Equations - Assistant Professor. We are interested in someone who has expertise in continuous applied mathematics with a specialization in ordinary differential equations and/or partial differential equations.

Starting date is September 1, 2005. Candidates are required to have a Ph. D. in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics.

Candidates are expected to be active scholars, participate in departmental, university and professional activities and to perform research that will allow the generation of competitive grant proposals. Applicants must have a strong commitment to quality teaching in a broad range of courses at the undergraduate level and to a more specialized set of graduate courses.

The Department of Mathematical Sciences at Montclair State University includes undergraduate programs in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, and Physics; Master’s programs in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, and Statistics. Currently there are thirty-one full-time faculty in the department. Montclair State University is the second largest public university in New Jersey and is located 15 miles west of New York City.
