| Job Opening MONTCLAIR STATE UNIVERSITY
Starting date is September 1, 2006. Candidates are required to have a Ph. D. in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics. Candidates are expected to be active scholars, participate in departmental, university and professional activities and to perform research that will allow the generation of competitive grant proposals. It is also expected that the successful candidate will be involved in the development of the Applied Mathematics PhD program. The successful candidate will be able to support and mentor Doctoral and Masters students. Applicants must have a strong commitment to quality teaching in a broad range of courses at the undergraduate level and to a more specialized set of graduate courses. The Department of Mathematical Sciences at Montclair State University includes undergraduate programs in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, and Physics; Master's programs in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, and Statistics and an Ed.D. in Mathematics Education. Currently there are twenty-nine full-time faculty in the department. Montclair State University is the second largest public university in New Jersey and is located 15 miles west of New York City in close proximity to major pharmaceutical, financial, and research centers.
