- Seminar on Students Applying to Graduate Schools
On Tuesday, Nov. 2, our department had an informal session with our students to talk to them about applying for graduate school. Many of our students wish to go to graduate school in mathematics and physics, but do not have information on schools, assistanstships, GREs and where they can get into (fall back schools). - New Positions Available
Applications are invited
for two tenure-track positions in Mathematics
Position 1:
Mathematical Fluid Dynamics - Rank and salary commensurate with
experience. We are interested in someone who has expertise in applied
mathematics with a specialization in fluid dynamics. Priority will be
given to a candidate who would work with faculty in the geosciences,
aquatic and coastal science, water management, oceans, climate,
physiology, combustion, or computational fluid dynamics.
Position 2: Differential or Partial Differential Equations –
Assistant Professor. We are interested in someone who has expertise in
continuous applied mathematics with a specialization in ordinary
differential equations and/or partial differential equations.
Starting date is September 1, 2005. Candidates are required to
have a Ph. D. in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics. Screening begins
immediately and continues until the position is filled. Montclair State

- New faculty joins Mathematical Sciences!
Aihua Li,
Associate Professor Department of Mathematical Sciences B.S., MS
Beijing University of Science and Technology MS, Ph.D. University of
Nebraska-Lincoln Dr. LI comes to MSU with 14 years of college level
teaching experience (including 4 in China). She served as Associate
Professor of Mathematics at Loyola U New Orleans since 1995. She spent
her sabbatical as a research associate at the Bioinformatics Institute
at Virginia Tech. Prior to that Dr Li was Assistant Professor at
Bismarck State College. She is first author on at least 12 publications
in scientific journals and is an active presenter at national
conferences and regional meetings. She served as referee of professional
journal and reviewer for Mathematics Reviews.
