  • Job openings: Applied Mathematics

    Applications are invited for two tenure-track position in Applied Mathematics at the level of Assistant Professor in Applied Dynamical Systems (V# F31) and Discrete Applied Mathematics (V# F32). Candidates specializing in interdisciplinary and/or industrial applications are encouraged to apply.

    Starting date is September 1, 2006. Candidates are required to have a Ph. D. in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics. Candidates are expected to be active scholars, participate in departmental, university and professional activities and to perform research that will allow the generation of competitive grant proposals. It is also expected that the successful candidate will be involved in the development of the Applied Mathematics PhD program. The successful candidate will be able to support and mentor Doctoral and Masters students. Applicants must have a strong commitment to quality teaching in a broad range of courses at the undergraduate level and to a more specialized set of graduate courses.

  • Job openings: Mathematics Education

    Applications are invited for 3 tenure-track positions in Mathematics Education. The department seeks candidates with research interests in the areas of: the teaching and learning of mathematics, the role of technology in mathematics education, the impact of professional development on the achievement of students, and interdisciplinary approaches to mathematics education. In particular we invite applications for Associate/Full Professor (V# F30) and Assistant Professor (V# F29).

    Starting date is September 1, 2006. Candidates are required to have a doctorate in Mathematics Education with background in Mathematics at the Masters level; or Doctorate Mathematics with significant work experience in mathematics education. Faculty members support undergraduate and graduate students seeking their initial certification to teach school mathematics, graduate students in the MS Mathematics with a concentration in mathematics education, and in the MA and post-baccalaureate certificate in Teaching Middle Grades Mathematics. Faculty members are expected to teach courses in mathematics including some taken by math majors. Applicants must have a strong commitment to quality teaching in a broad range of courses at the undergraduate level and to a more specialized set of graduate courses.
